Surgical Referral Service

In 1980, Dr. Moss started the small animal orthopedic referral service at Brandywine Valley Veterinary Hospital in an effort to answer the growing need for surgery in the area. He has expanded his knowledge over the years of dozens of surgical procedures with extensive continuing education training including courses in Advanced Orthopedics, Dentistry, Endodontics, Arthroscopic and Laparoscopic surgery and has completed The International Acupuncture Society’s intensive course and VetStem training. Over the past 35 years, Dr. Moss has developed a progressive surgical referral practice by outfitting the practice with state of the art surgical equipment.

In 2000, he was one of the first 50 veterinarians nationally to perform routine arthroscopic (joint) surgeries. With the advent of the CO2 laser, digital dental radiography, and high speed dental equipment he has also remained up to date with sophisticated surgery of the head, neck, the mouth and advanced dentistry. His recent interests include stem cell therapy, C-Laser therapy, laparoscopic surgery, and biopsies – affording his patients quicker recoveries and less invasive surgeries.

Client education is a primary part of his surgical referral service and general practice alike. The focus is to give clients the knowledge needed to thoroughly understand any issue their pet may have, and to design clear treatment plan options.
