Chris joined BVVH in 2009 and works closely with the doctors here as a surgical technician three mornings a week. It is unique that he is a licensed veterinary technician working with both small and large animals. He is also a full-time Equine Nurse at the University of Pennsylvania’s at New Bolton Center. He is the 2015 recipient of the University of Pennsylvania’s Gretchen Wolf Schwartz Award for Outstanding Nursing.
Chris is an inspiration to us for his pursuit of small and large animal continuing education, and in 2013 he became certified by Academy Of Equine Veterinary Nursing Technicians. He has extensive experience with exotic species, having previously worked as an animal keeper and technician in charge of quarantining incoming animals at The Staten Island Zoo. While there he worked with primates, venomous reptiles, several different big cats, and aquatic mammals.
He was raised in New York City and did his veterinary technician training at Camden County College.
Chris likes to keep things busy with his wife Danielle, and three children: Sophia, Lucas, and Zach. When not chasing after kids, he can be found at the barn with his Shetland Pony mare “Ivy Ling”. He and Danielle both ride and are hoping their children with also be bitten by the bug.
He also routinely competes his homebred Champion Jack Russell Terriers, traveling to dog shows up and down the east coast. His dogs “Fancy” and “Clover” are International Champions with the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America and Jack Russel Terrier Club of Canada.
Chris is a member of the Academy Of Equine Veterinary Nursing Technicians and is a Licensed Technician in Pennsylvania and New York.
